Iban Mayo Diez (RSR) was fifth on today's last Alpine stage and is now handily placed, third overall. Steve's hopeful for the GC, Alexandre Vinokourov, lost yet more time today: he came home over three minutes down in twentieth place to slip more than eight minutes off the overall lead.
