Neither of us had a rider in contention for the General Classification: Paolo Bettini (RSR) was nineteenth, almost 48 minutes down, while Steve's best overall place was Erik Zabel's 80th, almost two hours even further back.

We did better in the Points competition where Mark Cavendish (SNO) finished fourth, one place ahead of Bettini (though both scored 106 points).

In the King of the Mountains competition, Steven Cummings (SNO) was 19th overall (with eight points) and Bettini was 33rd (with three).

Bradley Wiggins (SNO), somewhat surprisingly, claimed fourth place on today's concluding time trial stage. Paolo Bettini could only manage the 62nd fastest time for Lisa.

In 50th place, some fifteen minutes behind the winner, Paolo Bettini (RSR) was our first rider home in today's penultimate stage of this year's Giro. Another twenty minutes passed before the first of Steve's riders got home today: David Millar, taking 74th place.

Steven Cummings (SNO) made it into the break of the day and managed to turn that into fourth place on the stage. Paolo Bettini, 33rd, was Lisa's best-placed finisher today.

As the Giro hit the first of three tough mountain stages, Paolo Bettini (RSR) just missed out in fifth place today. Back in 83rd place, Erik Zabel finished almost thirty minutes down for Steve. Lisa's Robbie McEwan was one of four riders not to take the start this morning.

Friday's stage 13 was lucky for Mark Cavendish (SNO) who took a powerful win in a mass sprint for the line. Erik Zabel was also in the frame for Steve, coming home in fourth place. Robbie McEwan (RSR) was ninth fastest today.

Paolo Bettini (RSR) rolled in nineteenth today, finishing with the main bunch, 11:30 down on the 11-man break that stayed away to the end of the stage. The best Steve could manage was Erik Zabel's 93rd place, in a group some 20s further back.

Paolo Bettini (RSR) led in the main bunch (behind the four riders from the five-strong, day-long break that lasted to the finish) in fifth place. Erik Zabel was 84th for Steve in a group two minutes further back. David Millar (SNO) was in the successful break but a chain failure right at the end led him to finish 119th (having thrown his bike over the barrier in disgust); he was credited with the same time as the fourth finisher from the break.
