Paolo Bettini (RSR) was eighth today having made it into the break of the day which was again allowed to stay clear to the end of the stage. Bettini is now Lisa's only rider in the race as Tom Boonen failed to take the start this morning. Steve's best finisher on the day was Erik Zabel, 35th, back in the main peleton.
