Vincenzo Nibali (SNO) took second place on the stage to keep a tight grip on the Maglia Rosa. For Lisa, Samuel Sanchez finished fourth to register her first points of the race. Mark Cavendish again managed to finish a stage with a mountain-top finish to retain the red jersey as leader of the points competition.
