Alberto Contador (RSR) finished second on today's mountain finish to claim the lead in the mo untain competition and retain his overall lead. Due to the retirement of several sprinters after yesterday's stage, Contador also holds the points jersey.
For Steve, Carlos Sastre finished 49th on the stage.
