Today's epic stage, featuring two climbs of Mount Etna, ended with the stage victory and maglia rosa both going to Alberto Contador (RSR). Carlos Sastre finished the stage in 30th place for Steve.
Contador also tops the points competition (with Alessandro Petacchi second, also for Lisa) and lies second in the mountains classification.
