Tour de France, stage 19

Samuel Sanchez (RSR) was second on today's stage, finishing at the top of l'Alpe d'Huez, with Alberto Contador, also for Lisa, third. Andy Schleck (SNO) finished ninth.

Schleck did enough to take over the race leader's yellow jersey as Thomas Veckler (RSR) fell back to fourth after ten days in the lead. Contador and Sanchez each moved up one place to sixth and seventh overall.

In spite of once again finishing outside the calculated time limit, Steve's Mark Cavendish was again reprieved to keep the green jersey. Philippe Gilbert and Thor Hushovd (both also SNO) also remain third and fourth in the points competition.

On the final day in which mountains competition points were on offer, Sanchez sealed his hold on the polka dot jersey. Schleck finishes second and Contador sixth in that classification.

Scores: RSR=6, SNO=6
LeTour: RSR=38, SNO=99
Totals: RSR=466, SNO=376
