Alberto Contador (RSR) took second place on the stage with Philippe Gilbert fifth for Steve.

Thor Hushovd (SNO) keeps the yellow jersey, with David Millar fourth and Andy Schleck ninth overall (both for Steve).

Gilbert and Hushovd hold third and fourth places in the points competition.

Gilbert slips to second in the mountains classification with Contador fifth.
