A sprint at the end of today' s stage, unusual in taking place on the second Monday of the Tour with the first rest day delayed until tomorrow, gave Caleb Ewan (RSR) third place as Peter Sagan (SNO) could only manage fifth place.
Julian Alaphilippe (RSR) carries the yellow jersey into the rest day with Dana Yates (SNO) now up to seventh overall with Dan Martin (RSR) now ninth.
Sagan still holds a substantial lead in the points competition as Ewan moves up to seventh at the expense of Greg van Avermaet (RSR) who drops to eighth.
Alaphilippe is still seventeenth on the mountains classification.
Scores: RSR=8, SNO=0
LeTour: RSR=57, SNO=13
Totals: RSR=464, SNO=295
