A huge breakaway group dominated the last stage before the alpine showdown. Out of that, Greg van Avermaet (RSR) finished third on the stage with Bauke Mollema (SNO) fourth.
Julian Alaphilippe (RSR) led home the main bunch to keep the yellow jersey but Dan Martin, also for Lisa, dropped a place to fourteenth overall. For Steve, his role in the break moved Mollema up to nineteenth.
Peter Sagan (SNO) is starting to look impregnable in the points competition with Caleb Ewan (RSR) still fifth and van Avermaet now up to eighth.
Alaphilippe holds onto fourth place on the mountains classification.
Scores: RSR=8, SNO=1
LeTour: RSR=123, SNO=16
Totals: RSR=530, SNO=298
