Back in Italy, the race resumed after the rest/travel day with a stage ending atop Mount Etna. Simon Yates (SNO) finished 22nd on the day with Guillaume Martin 30th for Lisa.
Yates drops to fourth overall as Martin improves to 29th place.
Mark Cavendish (SNO), Arnaud Démarre, also for Steve, and Fernando Gaviria (RSR) still occupy places 3, 4 and 5 on the points classification.
Yates drops to twelfth in the mountains competition.
