Fernando Gaviria (RSR) was promoted to first place, having initially claimed second place in the sprint at the end of today's stage, when Ella Viviani was relegated by the race jury.

Vincenzo Nibali (SNO) remains third overall with Rafał Majka (RSR) still sixth and Bauke Mollema (SNO) up another place to seventh.

Gaviria now holds the ciclamino jersey as leader of the race on points.

Majka remains sixth in the mountains competition.
